Getting started with the shadowcircle distribution
is a fairy easy process:

1. download the latest cdrom iso with the following link.
2. Burn it or use it in loop mode with a virt system.
3. Boot on it, then select "Run Shadowcircle".
4. Login with the toor/toor (or root/toor) creds.
5. Enjoy ;)

Remember the fifth of November.

I'll do today on this website what i usually never do: express my personnal opinion about something going on. Of course shadowcircle.org wasn't created for that: this isn't a blog or something ! Nevertheless i need to do it now, yet exceptionally.

As some of you may know, a massive attack against anti-piracy organisations and copyright lobbies has been planned by the Anonymous & 4Chan community for November 5th 2010. 4chan users can be cruel, brutal and i clearly disaprove some of their actions ( ie 4Chan vs jessi Slaughter <= it was truely sucky and childish ! ). But the thing is that i share with these guys and many other internet citizens the same, utopic, ideology: The idea of a free Internet being ruled by a single thing, its users!

On the other side, you have really naughty mo-fo's who want to suppress our rights for their own interest
( MONEY and POWER ).

They use copyright laws for censorship.
They use copyright laws in order to put the culture back into the hands of the riches and powerfuls.
They use copyright laws to steal and racket people.

Personnally i choose my side and i think that when all the legal paths have been explored, these kinds of initiatives become a good idea. Things will not change right after that, but this kind of symbolic action can be important to tell the whole world and specially copyright lobbists who want to sacrify our freedom, that the resistance is here and ready to fight.

I'm not supposed to tell you what to do or not, but if you feel the injustice as i do and if you want what i want , then maybe we'll have the opportunity to fight side by side, as brothers in arms !!

Introducing Synapse

Some of you might be wondering why SC 2.0 has not been released yet, in spite of what was said a few months ago. Some of you may also consider that given the complete lack of news these last few months, the project would eventually be dead. The answer is clearly no, and shadowcircle 2.0 is still planned. To be completely honest, laziness is no stranger to this situation. But we can take in consideration another important fact.

When i started the work on shadowcircle 2.0, i wanted to add a super custom tool that would clearly be the distribution's masterpiece. My biggest wish then was ( and still is) to improve the interaction between the many tools in the suite, to get something as coherent as possible.

Here was born project synapse : a tool that is able to make all the tools speak together, in a VERY simple way, through the manipulation of diagrams. The result is awesome, and even if the tool is still in early development stage it's already quite impressive.

This very ambitious project took me a lot of time. So much that i decided to remove it from the shadowcircle 2.0 roadmap, and later release a version 2.1 with Synapse in it, when it's ready.

1 year...it makes 1 year now that the shadow circle project has been started. At that time i wasn't ever thinking that i would spend so much time on it, and that it would evolve in what it is now. I had so much good time doing it that the journey will of course continue. Also an easter surprise is going to be made on Monday, so stay tuned !
